SLATE PROPERTY ARTS AND CULTURE ENDOWMENT (SPACE) is a 501(c)3 organization that we created and launched for Slate Property Group. The fund was created to help support arts and culture in selected North Brooklyn communities where Slate developed properties. Through a grant process that we built, Slate awarded funding to applicants proposing projects in visual arts (film, video and photography), performance arts, and cultural events. All though we accepted proposals from all qualified applicants, we encouraged individuals of color and individuals and organizations with ties to immigrant and under-represented groups to apply.

We were engaged by L&M Development Partners to document and tell the story of their long term renovation project at Baychester and Murphy Houses in the Bronx. The documentary is a community transformation story about how improvements on housing conditions can positively impact the day to day life experiences and wellbeing of residents. In addition to renovation, L&M further engaged with the community by offering various community events and enrichment programs. The renovation, which was a joint venture between NYCHA, MBD, Community Housing Corporation and Cross Bronx Preservation LLC, includes the repair of windows, facade, landscaping green spaces, new playgrounds, new boilers, security cameras, replaced roofs, new kitchens and bathrooms as well as other necessary upgrades to shared building facilities.

We were engaged by BFC Partners to work with their team to help manage Community Affairs and Engagement for The Bedford Union Armory, a high-profile development in Crown Heights. We worked with BFC's lobbyist, project management team and EDC to develop and execute a community engagement plan. In the process we built relationships with the community, key stakeholders and elected officials so that BFC could propose a final project, through the process of negotiation and engagement, that the community and the elected officials could approve and move forward through the ULURP approval process.
